The ever-increasing demand for Genome Sequencing
Many developed countries have invested an immense amount of research and resources into the development of the field of biomedicine. It is paramount to develop more precise drug vaccines, treatment methods and epidemic prevention strategies through genetic decoding. Human genome sequencing analysis is crucial for accomplishing this goal. WASAI focuses on the secondary analysis in gene sequencing and enters the niche market of high-performance data analysis and processing, hoping to provide high-performance gene sequencing analysis solutions to accelerate personalized treatment and diagnosis.
A Specialized Design
Calvin Hung, Co-founder and CEO of WASAI Technology, stated that the results of genome sequencing analysis has become the most integral component for creating personalized health care solutions in the modern age. However, the process of analyzing the whole genome often takes more than 32 hours. In order to optimize this process to reach quicker analysis times, High-Performance Computers (HPCs) are often the most commonly used computing architecture operation for this task.
However, as Calvin pointed out, the problem is that it is difficult to have both high performance and low cost without using a specialized computing architecture. In order to solve this issue, the research team has developed a more high-efficiency and cost-effective analysis method that maintains the consistency of analysis results with a high degree of accuracy. It is also compatible with GATK Best Practice (BWA-MEM + GATK)'s high-speed gene sequence variation analysis solution.
Calvin pointed out that WASAI-Lightning™ Family can greatly shorten the time of gene sequence analysis. It can complete an entire human genome sequence analysis in only 3 hours, which is more than 10 times the efficiency of most contemporary gene sequencing analysis. Moreover, it is also easy to use, has remote connection through a web browser, visual operation and automatic analysis while still retaining the flexibility of operation for the convenience of its users.
Enhancing Market Development
WASAI is currently making every effort to improve on secondary analysis genomics. In product development, we have the privilege to collaborate with Intel and various other domestic server manufacturers to utilize the advantages of Taiwan's booming ICT industry to continue to improve overall performance and to develop new product features for our customers. For our goal in the second half of 2020, we propose more plans to assist in the research and development of human genomes for COVID-19 relief.
